FAQ

Questions, answered

How DirectGuest measures AI visibility — and why it’s different.

What does DirectGuest actually do?

Two things. First, it measures how often AI assistants (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity) recommend your hotel when travelers ask for somewhere to stay — your visibility score, share of voice, perception, and whether the booking link goes to you or an OTA. Second, it’s a live connector inside Claude and ChatGPT that places your hotel directly in those answers with a direct booking link, and tracks the clicks it sends you.

How is this different from SEO?

SEO is about ranking blue links on Google. This is about whether an AI assistant names your hotel in a written recommendation — a different mechanism with different signals (structured data, citations, llms.txt) and far more volatility. Traditional SEO tools can’t see it.

How do you measure visibility — isn’t AI random?

It is, which is why a single check is noise. We ask each question multiple times across each assistant and aggregate into a stable mention-rate — the same polling approach the serious tools use. So your score reflects a true average, not one lucky or unlucky answer.

Which AI assistants do you cover?

Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity on every paid tier — four, where most competitors start at two. Google AI Mode and Copilot are on the roadmap.

Where does the data come from? Is it accurate?

We query the assistants’ APIs with web grounding on, so results reflect current information. Our hotel and competitive-set data is a curated index of boutique and independent properties. If you ever spot something off about your hotel, that’s exactly the “fact-drift” our report flags — and a reason to fix your structured data (we give you a free tool for it).

Do I need to install anything or change my booking engine?

No. The report needs nothing from you. The connector routes travelers to your existing booking page — no integration, no OTA in the middle, no change to your systems.

What’s the “connector”?

DirectGuest is published as an app inside AI assistants. When a traveler asks for hotels in your city, we can surface your property in the answer with a direct booking link — so you’re not just measured, you’re placed.

How much does it cost?

The report is free. Paid monitoring is $39/mo for one property or $129/mo for up to 25 — less than one room-night a month — with a 14-day free trial. See pricing.

Is there a free trial? Can I cancel?

Yes — 14 days free, no commitment, cancel anytime. The one-time free report needs no account at all.

How is this different from Hotelrank.ai or Cendyn?

They measure your visibility and optimize your website. We do that and place you in the answer via our connector and track the real booking clicks AI sends you — across more assistants, at a lower price. Full comparison.
